I am a rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh, and I'm majoring in philosophy and minoring in computer science. I have three years of experience with one-on-one tutoring, group mentoring, and assistant teaching in Houston and New York. This past summer, I underwent a rigorous 8-week fellowship with the Breakthrough Collaborative where I taught 9th grade Literature to 19 low-resource students from many different parts of Pittsburgh. There, I honed my teaching skills, learned pedagogy, and constantly refined my teaching method with the aide of my instructional coach, peers, and directors.
Over the course of two 3-week sessions, my students have learned invaluable argumentative practices which were then translated into cogent writing. We analyzed and unpacked college-level texts and had fruitful discussions in which we dove deep into the readings. My classes are challenging, rigorous, and are pertinent to the lives of my students.
I am a rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh and a Breakthrough Collaborative alumnus. I have also studied Photography at the International Center of Photography in New York in which I was an assistant teacher, and I tutored and mentored with the Partnership for the Advancement and Immersion of Refugees (PAIR) in Houston.
