I'm a decorated and experienced middle school science teacher who originally majored in Biology in college at the University of Texas before switching to another degree plan. I love to teach and have fun doing it. I look forward to working one on one with students. I have experience working with every level of student from English Language Learners to Gifted and Talented students. My lessons start with vocabulary and the basic concepts and move to guided practice and eventually individual practice. I always start where a student is, meaning I assess their individual level of knowledge for that particular subject and go from there.
I look forward to working with your learner!
I have been teaching for almost 7 years in schools across Houston and have taught close to a thousand students from all different backgrounds in that time. My students have gone on to high school and college and been successful in their lives and academic careers.
I have a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas and in 2010 received a Generalist 4-8 Texas teaching certificate. I have taught science for 7 years (both 7th and 8th). I was named Teacher of the Year in 2014 and nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2015. I have also helped write curriculum for all grades of middle school science (6th, 7th, and 8th grade).
