I'm a well published freelance writer and journalist. I incorporate writing fundamentals, like grammar and style, within the writing. The goal is to immediately start writing for publication.
I'm also well experienced in academic writing at the Masters level. Along with with journalism experience, this has led to a firm requirement of citing your sources in whatever you write.
Ops/Eds can get personal, that is, writing from the 1st person, but most writing is 3rd person.
In 2017 I'll be publishing two books: "Global Entertainment In The 21st Century," exploring the covergence of entertainment and technology on a global scale and redefining the question, "What is entertainment."
And, "Song Creation," a comprehensive guide to songwriting (production) from the technical, social, cultural and business perspectives.
I was hired to write my first screenplay in Las Vegas while covering the LV film scene as a freelance writer. The script was never produced. I've also written scores for musical theater.
I can also focus on screenwriting instead of freelance writing. I wrote a column for Script Magazine, "What Is A Story?"
I've never taught writing. My approach will be to get the student published--and paid--as soon as possible. This means grammar, style, etc. will follow experience. You do not have to be an expert in grammar to be a well-published and well-paid writer. However, for journalism writing, you must become well-versed in the use of style guides like the Chicago Manual of Style and others. Every writer uses these style guides throughout their career at any level and in any writing endeavor.
Self-designed BS in Songwriting and Masters in Liberal Studies, University of Minnesota. Writing served as the major form of presentation and learning.
Recently accepted into the Masters in Performance and Composing at California Institute of Arts, beginning Spring Semester 2017.
Well published, including Ops/Ed Editor and Writer for the Minnesota Daily, columnist for Script Magazine and Musesmuse.com, and extensive freelance articles.
