I'm a very happy and busy single mom of a 6th grader and discovered teaching later in life, thankfully. Ironically, English was my minor at UT! My students have ranged in age from Pre-K through a recently graduated Senior (last June) preparing for the SAT. I've been described as patient, kind, professional with a gentle sense of humor, flexible and caring.
I think this is very fair, based on my degree, my age, my experience and my experiences. I have never been fired, and I never charged my families a cancellation fee - as a single parent (with sole custody), I understand how things come up and it's easy to double book with kids/run late.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 4 1/2 years as a private tutor because if an issue arises I can visit with the student and then the family without much interruption. The summer school classes I taught totaled 63 students, and privately I've worked with 36. These students attended private school, for the most part - of the public school students, 3 passed The LA section of The STAAR Test!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas (1989) and graduated with honors from high school in Houston, Texas. I taught summer school classes on How To Be A Better Writer and How To Write A Research Paper as well as Essential Study Skills.
