Living in Livingston, NJ, PhD in Applied Mathematics with more than 30 year experience want to teach pre-calculus and calculus to college students
I, Tahira Hroon am a professor of Mathematics in Pakistan. But these days I am living with my elder son in Livingston NJ. I am a mother of two brilliant sons. Elder is surgeon doctor and younger one is engineer. I did my PhD in Fluid Dynamics/Computational Fluid Dynamics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan then Postdoc from UK in complex fluids and complex flows. I have been teaching Fluid Mechanics and Numerical Methods to MS/PhD students since 2003.I supervised more than 30 MS students, 4 PhD students and still supervising MS/PhD students. More than 80 international publications are at my credit. I won best teacher award in 2013.
Mathematics is a language and I feel students must understand the logic behind mathematics. Once they understand the logic they develop love with mathematics and never fail in this subject. The best technique to understand its steps is to do practice by using paper and pen. I use board and marker in the class and go through step by step calculations in its logical way, in order to develop an interest for the students.
