Music, on the surface, is a logical progression of sounds. While music strikes us emotionally, its creation is the result of rational understanding of the emotional functions of musical objects. To master the instrument that conveys music, one must learn not only the techniques but also the genesis of musical creation. At the same time, one's music appreciation experience can be guided and enhanced by pondering from the composers' point of view and understanding their intents.
As an amateur classical pianist and arranger and a frequent classical music concert goer, I have developed a special pair of ears to notice the subtitles in music performance that reflects more deeply about the presented artistry's connection to life. I hold a level 10 technical diploma for Keyboard Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada. In my lessons, I will guide you through the big picture of a composition while maintaining loyalty to the original score. I take musical opinions very objectively and will help you shape your performance into the ways that benefit the most from your artistic choices and personality.
I am also an arranger for acapella and high school bands, and compose often. In my lessons, I can guide music listening experience without diving too deeply into the scores but simply by listening and exploring one's true feelings.
My rates will vary for different levels of music students. The posted rate is for RCM level 5 and below. For each level increase, my rate goes up by $10/hr.
