I am originally from New York City and I have a BA in Philosophy from Brown University. I relocated to Austin when I became a graduate student in the History Department at UT-Austin. I can help students, from elementary school through college and graduate school, perform at their highest possible level. My goal is for each student to leave a session feeling less stressed about and more capable of accomplishing whatever task they have before them. I focus particularly on reading, writing, English, History, and test prep.
I have been tutoring students privately in Austin for about 7 years now, and in that time I have worked with dozens of local students. I have had especially great results with my test prep methods, and I am often able to bump a student's SAT score a few hundred points in a matter of months. I am also very committed to making pleasure reading a big part of every student's life, because this improves performance in every subject.
As I mentioned above, I have a BA in Philosophy and Creative Writing from Brown University. I was a doctoral candidate in American History at the University of Texas at Austin. Both experiences, as well as some time working as a reading teacher, have made me sensitive to student's needs and concerns--I have, after all, been a student myself for many years.
