I believe that knowledge is power, and that the more that is known, the more powerful we become. I use a variety of methods to help students with reading, and I try to meet them at their level or help them find ways to cover the material so that it is more interesting to them than just words on a paper. I teach the overall view, then break it down into steps so that the process becomes ingrained and easily produced.
I have an undergraduate degree in Middle School Education (Language Arts and Social Studies) and a Master's degree in English (Junior, Community, and Technical College Teaching) from Appalachian State University. I have taught in public and private schools and have been a long term substitute in every grade and a plethora of subjects. I have worked as a tutor for all levels from Kindergarten through MBA, and I would love to work with your student.
I will discount the rate if I tutor more than one family member per household, or tutor more than one student at a time (2-3 who need the same help/ lesson). The $5 travel fee is only necessary if the distance is greater than 15 miles from my home.
