My current role is a costs management oriented role which involves helping implement a new and dynamic Costs team. My role involves reviewing retainers and suite of documents to improve the costing process from beginning to end. Re-establishing Solicitor/Client cost relationships and providing fee earners with advice and support on recovery of Costs. Apart from the project management aspects, I have also improved my Legal Aid costs knowledge and furthered my advocacy in Oral and Provisional Assessments.
2016 – 2017 Just Costs Solicitors – Costs Advocate
Role involved a complex and varying caseload as a costs draftsman, negotiator and advocate. I have been able to gain extensive advocacy experience at Oral Hearings, Detailed Assessments, Application Hearings and Interim Payment Applications. I also carry out research on bespoke issues and prepare advices on complex matters particularly; recovery of ATE Premiums, the new proportionality test and fixed costs disputes.

I was promoted to a Senior Costs Draftsman; preparing complex high value Bills of Costs in Clinical Negligence, serious injury and Industrial disease matters. I also conducted my files from “cradle to grave”; negotiating and preparing files for Provisional and Detailed Assessments.
2013 – 2014 Express Solicitors - Litigation Costs Executive
My role involved; drafting and preparing Bills of Costs and statements of costs; issuing Part 8 proceedings and Assessment of costs; responding to points of dispute and negotiating for costs settlement. Through this role, I was able to balance a heavy case load and manage my time effectively.
Advocacy Training Programme with the Law Society of Zimbabwe
I attended the Training Seminar, assisting Peter Birkett QC and Desmond Brown QC in delivering Advocacy training to the Lawyers practising in Zimbabwe. This opportunity was valuable in improving my own oral skills and gaining that important continual development in Advocacy.
I took part in the Grays Inn Mooting Competition 2012/2013 and successfully reached the Semi Finals were I was ranked second place in my advocacy. HHJ Headley commended my advocacy as enjoyable to listen to with clarity and diction.
I have also taken part in the MMU GDL mooting competition in 2011/2012 in which, I successfully reached the semi-final stage as well.
