Many local schools have high classroom sizes, which makes it difficult for teachers to cater to all teaching styles. If a student is struggling with a topic, it is important to find what the gap in understanding is. Speaking from my own academic experience, when you do not understand something, it can be extremely difficult to pinpoint where the confusion is coming from. I approach every student by trying to understand what learning style works best for them. For example, I had a college classmate who was a visual learner, so I would draw out some of the concepts from class, and we would draw each part and explain the steps of a system, like a fish circulatory system.
I have a biology degree from Sonoma State, and am currently working towards a teaching credential. I have experience working with kids, from kindergarten to college aged students. I love to mix things up, to help students learn in their own unique style.

I am a recent graduate from Sonoma State University with a degree in biology. I have been working with kids, both professionally and as a volunteer for my local church for two years. I have a huge passion for biology and I love interacting with others (especially kids).
As part of my education, I engaged in community outreach, with elementary school children and college freshmen. I was able to create a fun species game and create experiments to help my students engage in the topic in multiple ways. I have examples of the presentations and materials I created for these talks and would be happy to share them with you at your request.
My professional goal is to pursue a career as a single study teacher. I believe that working as a tutor would allow me to develop new skills and prepare me for this goal. As an employee, I can guarantee that I will be committed to sharing my passion for biology and challenging myself to find new ways to teach so that students with all types of learning styles can comprehend the information. I can assure you that I can remain patient and focused on promoting an atmosphere that encourages fun and growth.
