My teaching method is based on patience. Learning a new language is not a magic, one-day lesson. It takes time, and I am here to help you understand that and stay confident, knowing that you can learn it. As I mentioned before, for a person from a different culture (American, for instance) to learn Portuguese, he/she must understand that you are not only translating words, but rather the meaning behind it. And I believe that this is the base for my approach to teaching.
I got my bachelors in an american university last Spring and I am currently pursuing my Masters in Communications also in the USA. I have helped other international students with writing assignments, and other personal projects that included the translation of documents from Portuguese to English, and vice-versa. English and Portuguese are two pretty different languages, especially because Portuguese has many nuances. Going through college, I was able to understand that, and learn that translating is not merely switching words, but rather understanding the whole sentence + situation, and then translating the meaning behind it rather than the solely the words. I have no specific knowledge with teaching specifically, but I have a personal experience in learning and putting into practice for my own benefit.
