Rather than a bunch of formulas, I present one concept with several applications. I make presentations that are energetic and animated. I involve the student by giving the first steps, then let them make the conclusion. Examples are available.

I've successfully taught and tutored Math at middle school, high school, and college. I've taught Arithmetic to Calculus as well as sciences up to Chemistry and Physics. I've developed several improvements over traditional presentations. Student comments are available upon request.

I was a long-term substitute teacher at Markham Woods Middle School in Lake Mary, FL. I taught Algebra 1 Honors and Pre-Algebra. It was a great situation, but as a long-term sub, I could not be guaranteed to be held over for the 2018-2019 school year.

Self Employed Math Tutor Employed: 10/2015-present

I have a math tutoring business. I tutor subjects from Arithmetic to Calculus. I also tutor for tests such as the ASVAB, SAT, and ACT. I am in the process of expanding the number of courses and subjects that I tutor as well as increasing the number of people that I can help.

SHIP Preparatory Academy Math & Science Teacher Employed: 08/2013-05/2016

I taught Math, from Arithmetic to Precalculus, and Science, from Life Science to Chemistry, at a small private school in Pine Hills, FL. It was a lot of work, but the staff, faculty, and students were great. I remained as a substitute teacher and returned to the same duties from March to May 2016. I left because, at 13 preps, the workload was overwhelming.

Substituted primarily in math and science in east Seminole Co.

Orange Co. Public Schools Math Teacher Employed: 10/2010–01/2011

Taught Math at Wekiva High School in Apopka, FL with one class of Algebra 2 and 5 classes of Algebra 1. Work hours were 7am until 5 – 7 pm. Preparation for the next day’s lessons and grading papers required extra hours. I left due to my wife’s health.

Kelly Educational Staffing Substitute Teacher Employed: 12/2009–09/2010

Substituted primarily in math and science in Orange County. Ended with a long-term assignment teaching Liberal Arts (LA) Math and Algebra 2 at Ocoee High School from Aug to Sep 2010. The first week was orientation, for which I was not paid. Routinely worked unpaid overtime until 5-6 pm. Wrote lesson plans for the LA Math team. It was a wonderful experience. Due to budget cuts, my assignment was not changed to a full-time teaching position, but it lead to employment and Wekiva High School.

Valencia Community College Math Tutor Employed: 01/2005 – 12/2005

I tutored all levels of math at the east campus. Courses ranged from College Prep Math (MATV-0020) to Calculus 2 (MAC-2023). I also tutored Finite Math (MGF-1106), Math for liberal Studies (MFGF-1107), and Intro to Statistics (STA-2023). It was truly a rewarding situation. Students came in confused and left with the confidence and ability to do well in their classes..

Eastern Florida State College Adjunct Math Instructor Employed: 08/2001 – 12/2002

I taught Intro Algebra Prep (MATV-0024), which is a math class for students lacking the skills to begin college level math courses. In my class, each student had to pass a chapter test before beginning the next chapter. Those that kept up were able to take the State Exit exam, which determined if they would pass the course. Prior to my final semester, I became dissatisfied with the organization of the text, so I rewrote the homework problems, made chapter and section outlines, and wrote homework solution guides. I began the course by teaching fractions and other basic concepts; I used those lessons to teach more advanced concepts later in the semester. As a result, 52 of my students took the exit exam in the fall of 2002 and all of them passed. I earned the position because of my previous success working at the college as a Math and Science Tutor beginning in 1991.

Government Experience:

Have hired, counseled, and terminated people. Have worked unpaid overtime training crew members. Group had the largest caseload and completed the most surveys in East Orlando. We were the first team to complete 1,000 surveys.

US Department of State Residential Security Coordinator Employed: 08/2000 – 05/2001

I began as an Office Management Specialist for the Security Dept. at the US Embassy, Tel Aviv and received a top secret security clearance. I was promoted to Residential Security Coordinator, where I inspected and recommended security upgrades to embassy residences. I was a security escort during the Secretary of State visit in Feb 2001. I updated the Embassy Emergency Action Plan, which was my most important contribution since it was later used by senior embassy management for a State Dept. exercise in coordination with Washington. It contains guidelines for actions to be taken in the event of a variety of major emergencies or catastrophes that might occur in Israel.
