I love teaching, and appreciate how a relationship can be built and the lesson can be customized when you are tutoring one-on-one or with a small group. I have seen that this attention gives the student an opportunity to express confusion about or mastery of the topic and be seen as a developing individual. I value the human side of education and do not just see it as an industry. Rather, I think we would agree it is a way for people to move forward with their dreams.
I am a certified English teacher (grades 6-12 in the U.S.) with extensive experience tutoring all ages, from first grade phonics to adult ESL. As a Fellow at a university Center for Writing and Scholarship, I created and led writing workshops and tutored graduate students across programs. I have also taught English classes K-12 in Ukraine as a Peace Corps volunteer. I recently finished an Americorps term of service in which I managed a tutoring center for children that struggle with reading. I would love the opportunity to tackle higher-level subject matter also.
Lessons must be canceled within 24 hours beforehand, or you will be charged for half the lesson. This is to offset the time I spend preparing lessons, and to encourage accountability.
Elizabeth is a committed and thoughtful tutor. Working with her will be an exceptional experience for your studies!
I had the pleasure to meet prof. Elizabeth during my studies at CIIS. She is very bright, openminded, prone to discussion and debate. I recommend her to anyone looking for a professor with thorough feedback, depth in character, and excellent writing/thinking/editing skills!
