I base my lessons on where each person's skill level and confidence in the subject and build up from there. When approaching new material, I typically use multiple demonstrations to establish solid foundation to help them remember it; this is followed with lots of practice before moving on to the next thing. At each lesson, we repeat the older material so it remains fresh.
I am a Chemical Engineer and Data Analyst studying at Virginia Tech. I have been tutoring for almost 5 years now in many areas such as Mathematics, Sciences, and English (as well as other languages). I have several students that managed to pull their low Bs to As and were able to graduate high school.
If I am travelling to meet the student, I usually ask for $5 in order to compensate for gas depending on how far I have to go.
