I am a Master of Chemistry, and as such would be happy to teach at all levels up to degree level. I am friendly and approachable, and take time to make sure something is understood before moving on to more complicated ideas. My techniques would be centred around 1-to-1 discussion, going over a subject from the ground up to make sure there are no gaps in knowledge/understanding, having regular question and answer sessions, setting practice questions to complete at the end of sessions and as homework, and providing source material, notes and references for the student to go over in their own time should they wish to expand their understanding further. I have always enjoyed teaching people who want to learn, and I am always very friendly and patient with students who may be struggling. I am very talkative and interactive, and much of my teaching methodology is focused around positive 1-on-1 interaction and the gradual building of understanding, starting simple and leading slowly to more difficult subject matter when the student is comfortable.

I am a highly knowledgeable Master of Chemistry, currently working as a Technical Manager for a plastics company. I received oustanding results at university, and during my course I was regularly asked to help tutor fellow students in my class and help them to conceptualise and understand difficult ideas, mechanisms and processes. I have an excellent grasp of organic chemistry, including knowing a large range of reagents and conditions for specific reactions, a fantastic understanding of complicated reaction mechanisms, the theory and practice of NMR spectroscopy (and other techniques), organo-metallic chemistry, stereochemistry, chirality, photochemistry, and many other related subjects. I also have good knowledge of other broad areas of chemistry, including inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, and now polymer chemistry. I have an excellent grasp on basic and more complex mathematical principles and theories, including geometry, algeabra, thermodynamics, kinetics, crystal field theory, and polymer design, and can practice them on paper and discuss and teach them with confidence. I have been praised for my ability to teach before, and would love to be able to once again share my passion for this subject with minds hungry to learn, who perhaps haven't found confidence for the subject in themselves yet.
I do not drive and so any travel done by me would be done via public transport, and I would therefore ask for £5 to go towards travel costs. Depending on the difficulty of the subject matter, I may raise or lower rates slightly at my discretion. Rates would be discussed and established with the student/parent before booking is finalised.

> Built upon my knowledge of polyurethane chemistry, the calculations surrounding these reactions and the formulation and application of resins produced from various polyols/polyamines and commercially available diisocyanates and acrylates.
> Designed, developed, formulated, tested and brought to market several successful products, including a ‘Gorilla Glue’ alternative, a 1 pack binder for rubber crumb systems, a 1 pack non-yellowing binder for resin-bound stone carpet systems, a rust removal product, a water-based matt/gloss finish 2 pack coating for wood/metal surfaces, as well as several new oligomers and inks for use in 3D printing.
> Designated and managed product specifications for production and quality control, and re-wrote and improved all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for QC testing and production.
> Managed the laboratory, i.e. kept track of reagent and equipment stock, carried out all QC testing and managed all development projects, liaised with suppliers in order to receive fresh samples for development work, and handled any technical queries from production/customers.
> Kept track of production and QC ‘Key Performance Indicators’ (KPI’s) such as batch loss/gain, and deviation from product specifications.
> Managed production stock for our biggest customer and liaised with the customer/production to ensure no deficits ever occurred in materials used for the larger batches.

I have a passion for studying organic chemistry and I practice the theory daily. I enjoy listening

I've known Theo for almost 7 years now. He is a passionate and enthusiastic scientist with excellent knowledge of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. He was possibly the highest achieving student I have seen in terms of academic performance, before heading into the industry where he has been working for several years.
