College professor and artist offering ceramics, pottery & sculpture lessons in the Bay Area to all ages.

Methodology

I find that students learn best by instruction, observation, and active application, combined. As such, I make a point to balance lectures with lots of hands-on demonstrations and real-world application, particularly when teaching technical processes. Students also learn by practice and by making mistakes. To help, I reinforce concepts through a lot of patient repetition and give consistent support targeted and tailored to the specific needs of each students project and learning level.

Background

I have an extensive background and education in ceramics, design, and sculpture. I got m BFA from RISD and my MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. I have been working as a visual artist for the past decade and as a college professor for the past two years at the San Francisco Art Institute. I have taught a range of classes in sculpture, ceramics, contemporary practice and design ranging in size from 5 to 16 students.
