« Perfect! Matthew has been a very helpful tutor for me in CSE 142. Matthew is very patient, insightful, and fun to work with. He easily adjusted to my learning style to teach me how to understand concepts better than if I attended lecture alone (personally, I work best when being manually guided through a problem or concept and understanding how/why it is solved that way. Matthew was great in helping me with that). He's taken a lot of extra time to help me out with learning how to solve a problem or a concept I had trouble with. Outside of our tutoring sessions, he takes the time to answer my questions, and personally made me a few practice problems + worksheets with topics I struggled with to help prepare for the next subject. I haven't had many tutors that offered me this much help before. I'm really thankful Matthew took the extra time to make sure I could do well. I really enjoyed having him as my tutor- he is very helpful and a great person to work with. I definitely reccommend working with him. »

UW Computer Science Senior w/ programming tutoring experience, industry experience, and a love to teach and communicate!

Methodology

Hi, I'm Matthew! I am a computer science major at UW. I teach very interactively with lots of examples. I explain everything I teach to the fullest extent possible. I'm also very receptive to questions, and understanding to those who give their best effort. If you are interested in any topics in my experience, let me know! I'd love to have the opportunity to share knowledge with you.

Background

I've been giving lessons for 3 years. When I was in high school, I gave private musical trumpet lessons to a small group of elementary kids. Last year, I accepted a job as a facilitator and tutor in computer science at the University of Washington. Since then, I've taught and helped over 60 students in computer science topics ranging from Discrete Mathematics to Data Structures & Algorithms. My students go on to earn Bachelor's Degrees in one of the top computer schools in the nation.

Perfect! I recommend Matthew to other aspired Programmers. I've learned key concepts in Computer Science, & am gaining insights everytime we meetup. He responds to my questions & emails. And even is giving a letter of recommendation for me. Great find.
