Creative Writer and Native Spanish Speaker 20 plus years of experience gives lessons to all ages at home.

Methodology

Education:

Undergraduate TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate from San Jose State University.

Creative Writer and Poet since age 15 years old.

Published a Fiction Short Stories mini Novella Book called Cassandra's World with 2 poems in it.

In the process of publishing 2 children's books either through Amazon.com like I did with the novella or through Ingramspark.com.

Undergraduate (International Baccalaureate) IB Certificate in Spanish from San Jose High School

Took four years of College Spanish.

I am a Native Speaker of Spanish for it was my first language taught to me by my parents and I am Mexican American.

Methods of Instruction:

I like to provide lessons in reading and writing Spanish as well as vocabulary build up, and light literature reading and terminology acquisition for Creative Writing.

For both I help and assist with grammar nicely because I want my students to succeed.

In Spanish I provide many chances and dedicate lessons to vocabulary acquisition and to verb conjugation in the many Spanish time tenses there exists.

Whilst for Creative Writing I provide many opportunities and class assignments for students to create their own poetry and short fiction stories through my guidance or simply through the very students own already acquired knowledge base.

Teaching Characteristics:

I am firm but not strict.

I am punctual.

I provide points and letter grades.

I provide a biweekly report on student progress.

I like to build student/ teacher rapport.

I prefer a general sense of understanding the subject versus worrying about the specifics.

I offer extra credit assignments and questions on quizzes.

I am approachable for assistance.

Background

For English or Creative Writing I have taught at least 3 students at a time.

For Spanish it has been 2 at a time.

My teaching experience for both subjects actually has only been for 3-4 years, however my creative
writing experience has been almost 20 years.

Most of my students succeed in my class with at least an A or a B in a letter grade but there has been one that earned a C.

However, if truth be known all my students made much progress in their Spanish and Creative
Writing abilities and created wonderful pieces. Why should grades dictate their knowledge?

In fact one of my students (Allison was taking both my classes at the Fireside Friendship Club) wrote a small six line poem in Spanish instead of English.
