I am a very experienced art & design teacher/lecturer who has taught across academic and vocationally related subject areas.
My areas of specialism are drawing, ceramics and sculpture, but I also teach painting and design technology areas, such as product design.
My approach is to work with you to understand your aims and aspirations and then design a learning program that will provide you with the best chances to achieve these.
I base your learning within the context of 'design' as a problem solving process; understanding the brief including possible opportunities and constraints, researching options and exploring a wide range of possible solutions, defining and refining the most exciting and effective solutions, resolution through making (including the craft skills required), evaluation of final resolution and assessment against the brief requirements.
I have taught children and young people in schools and art colleges and adults in colleges and evening classes. I worked in schools for 10 years and in colleges for a further 10.
My GCSE and A level results were always the highest in the departments I worked in.
When delivering Btec Nationals and Pre-university Foundation Diplomas my students always achieved merits or Distinctions. Over 90% of my college students achieved positive progression pathways to higher levels of art & design course, HNDs, degrees, etc.
