Mu approach tends to pace itself with how quickly the students learn as there isn't much rush. I start from the beginning, teach the more mundane and simple aspects first as well as showing the importance of focusing on the more important aspects (such as tempo) from the very beginning. I have students apply new skills and compound them with new skills so they got the opportunity to build upon what they have already learned. I try to learn from my students as well and I try my best to understand why they aren't understanding or missing a concept.
I have played music throughout much of grade school. I can also play the alto saxophone and flute and have taken part in orchestral and marching ensembles at my respective schools.
