Bachelor of Science in Biological Conservation with a minor in Social Studies. I've been a wildlife biologist since 1990, taught high school ELL Algebra, Environmental Studies, Biology and Chemistry for 2 1/2 years, tutored student athletes for 3 years, owned an environmental consulting firm and have been a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) consultant for 7 years. I survived 3 emergency VP Shunt brain surgeries in an 8 month period while playing on the SF 49ers 81 Super Bowl team, have survived 9 brain surgeries to date, and present TBI Recovery presentations all over the country. I've been published in US News and World Report, Slate Magazine, and featured on ESPN Outside the Lines, and numerous other media outlets. I tutor elementary through college students in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Math and Chemistry courses.
I graduated after developing dyslexia and short term memory problems from 8 emergency VP shunt brain surgeries and understand the frustration of dealing with learning disabilities. My forte is teaching "Outside The Box." I know how to connect with struggling students and help to turn the light on with some of my crazy teaching techniques.
I tutored student athletes at Sacramento High School for 2 years, taught Algebra to English Language Learners at Hiram Johnson for a semester, and taught Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Studies at Christian Brothers high for two years.
In December of 2016, I tutored two home school students in Science, who's accumulative GPAs were 29% and 31% with 6 days remaining in the semester. They finished with 75% and 81% respectively, and I've begun tutoring them in Algebra.
I sometimes charge a sliding scale depend on student's needs and parent's financial situation.

Merged with GeoEngineers in October of 2006 to launch their first California office. Returned to consulting in March of 2009 during the economic downturn. Prepared natural resource protection plans, storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) and conducted SWPPP inspections, on-site water quality tests for compliance with the NPDES General Permit for turbidity, and to assess non-visible pollutants. Presented SWPPP training seminars in conjunction with the Regional Water Quality Control Board, conducted Section 8 and Section 0 Consultations, prepared 401 and 404 Permits and 1600 Stream bed Alteration Agreements, and conducted protocol wildlife, fisheries and botanical surveys and prepared species specific protection plans and training seminars.
Designed a chemical free dewatering system and treated 50,000,000 gallons of colloidal soil infused storm water in 6 weeks at less than $40,000 after the client was fined $600,000 for a storm water discharge despite 3 separate ATS systems operating simultaneously at a cost of over $100,000 per month. Both the client and RWQCB were ecstatic with the results.

WILDLANDS INC - LANDS MANAGER JUNE 1999 TO JANUARY 2003
Assisted in the design, construction of, and managed several mitigation banks in the Sacramento valley. Prepared water management plan and oversaw daily management of a 500 acre mitigation bank with 107 water control structures. Utilized that experience to design future banks utilizing natural geography and soils to more closely mimic natural hydrologic systems, which reduced invasive species control and water management costs exponentially, while increasing biodiversity, including special status aquatic, terrestrial and botanical species.
Assisted in the construction of the first fisheries mitigation bank in the delta on Kimball Island, targeting delta smelt and salmonid fry.
Initiated a grazing program to control invasive plants while reducing management costs on other mitigation banks. The grazing program grew into a several hundred head livestock operation and large revenue stream. Installed several hundred bird nesting structures, reptile hibernaculums and initiated a banding program with wood ducks, kestrels and barn owls. Conducted numerous tours for regulatory, legislative and development groups and local schools, and conducted annual wetland delineations and plant surveys to assess mitigation milestones for success of each mitigation bank.
