My goal is find a learning style that best suits your needs. I'm open to pictures, discussions, Q&A sessions, problem solving, etc. The one constant of my sessions is that I emphasize foundational knowledge. From my own experiences learning, I know that without a strong foundation students are quickly lost in a more advanced setting. Our first 2-3 sessions might focus on building those foundations so that we can move along with course material.
I have a degree in engineering from 2014, worked in NYC as an engineer for 2 years, and then decided to go back to school and apply to Medical School. During my time as an undergraduate, I taught Physics labs and tutored physics extensively. Now, I'm a student-researcher in cancer biology and tutor organic chemistry and biology, in addition to physics. I'm also trained yoga teacher, and like to incorporate stress-reduction and mindfulness techniques into my tutoring sessions to best prepare students for high-stress exam environments.
My rate includes some academic support outside of our sessions (homework questions during the week). However, if the student requires lots of contact between sessions for help with homework and other assignments, my fee is $35. For cancellations, I require a minimum of 24-hour notice, except in the case of emergency.
