I take a student-centered approach and base lessons off of students' goals. I make lessons engaging, relevant, and exciting. I tailor classes for the individual needs and objectives of students. What do you want to learn? How do you want to improve? I strategically plan lessons that are aligned with student aspirations.
I am an English teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English. I have a passion for writing, I love English and would like to help you improve your skills. I appreciate English as both a subject and language and am qualified to offer guidance for all of your academic needs.
I have a strong background in critical thinking, composition, and literature. My extensive studies in Literature of the World and Cultural Studies inspired me to learn more about other cultures and travel abroad. I acquired intermediate skills in Spanish from studying abroad in Costa Rica and Spain. Taking Gay and Lesbian Literature, Women’s Studies, and Jewish-American Literature expanded my literary canon and gave me insight into the lives of other people. My Bachelor of Arts in English has given me a strong foundation in academia and knowledge to teach and tutor English with confidence.
I obtained my Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language Certificate in order to teach overseas.
Before going to China I had a substitute teaching permit, but no prior teaching experience. With copious
training, I enjoyed gaining two years of invaluable experience teaching abroad. The roots of my teaching
philosophy started at a Cambridge International School with candidacy for the IB Program in Osaka,
Japan. IB World Schools share a common philosophy and commitment to improve the teaching and
learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging high quality
programs of international education.
Additionally, two years of teaching ESL at an accredited institution gave me expertise in student-centered
learning among adult education professionals from all parts of the world, with regard to university-level
language acquisition. Teaching at San Diego University for Integrative Studies with students from Saudi
Arabia, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, China, France, Italy, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Thailand, Turkey, and
Taiwan has guided my pedagogy for English Language Learners, practice in delivering high quality ESL
courses, and prepared me to become a successful teacher in ESL. I possess leadership competence, strong team-building collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to quality education and improving the lives of community members. Currently, I am prepared to pass on my knowledge of English by tutoring and instructing ESL classes. I look forward to meeting you! Thank you so much.

I have helped Shanee with historical lectures. I have witnessed a stellar teacher. Shanee goes above and beyond for her students. She is very honest and caring, and she makes sure each student reaches their full potential.
She is definitely good teacher. I’m in Japan already though, if I go SD again I wanna get her class!
She’s gonna tell us really kindly.
