I have taught undergraduate and graduate level university courses in Genetics, Population Genetics, General Biology, Environmental Science, Invertebrate Biology, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Oceanography, and Marine Biology.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science from UCSD, and MS and PhD from Texas A&M University in Oceanography.
I have been teaching since graduate school, so for about 26 years. I have taught and tutored hundreds of students of various levels, but mainly graduate and undergraduate university students.
I have helped a number of students get into graduate programs, Medical School, and Veterinary School. I have also helped more than 20 undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral researchers publish peer-reviewed scientific papers.
I have published more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters, I was selected as a Sea Grant Program National Fellow, have participated in dozens of international scientific conferences. I regularly host ecology interns from the US and around the world in my lab, and we have been able to design and carry out exciting internship projects in ecology, evolution and conservation biology, both marine and terrestrial, a number of which have been published.
