I'm a Spanish instructor who currently teaches Spanish to adults one-on-one and small groups as a freelance teacher. I'm also one of the organizers of a Spanish Meetup in NYC.
My lessons for beginners encourage development on reading, writing, comprehension and speaking skills. My lessons for intermediate and advance levels are more focused on expanding vocabulary and conversational skills. I'm flexible with the students' preferences. I promote a learning environment that is fun and interesting.
My first lesson is a free 1-hour consultation.
Mercedes is a fantastic teacher. She used to tutor me in Spanish to help me with my speaking, writing, and reading abilities for work I was doing in Latin America. She was always prepared for each class we had together and tried to push me beyond my comfort zones so that I would gain more confidence in speaking Spanish. Mercedes also brought a multitude of different media to help me learn Spanish (newspaper articles, books, movies, etc.) so that I would be totally immersed in the language. Mercedes is a patient teacher and is always focused on the growth and well-being of her students. It is with pleasure that I recommend Mercedes as a teacher!
Mercedes Flores is an excellent Spanish teacher I have with weekly for
the past few months. Her teaching is enjoyable, focused and always
makes me want to keep learning. I would recommend her highly to
both beginning and advanced students.
In the year and two months I spent studying Spanish with Mercedes she was always well prepared, patient and encouraging. She paced our classes well, ensuring that we spent extra time on the bits that I found more difficult. The lessons were always engaging, and a good mix between conversational practice and learning new vocabulary and grammar. I would highly recommend studying with Mercedes!
