Experienced teacher and tutor in History, Anthropology, English, and Research based in Durham, NC

Methodology

First I listen to the student, and find out why they are interesting in tutoring, whether or not it's a specific assignment, or general study habits. I then assess the assignment and determine whether or not I can be of assistance.
Next, I learn about the student's academic background, to best adapt my feedback. I then assist the student in forming a strategy to how best approach the assignment. After assisting the student with completing the assignment, I check-in with the student about how the tutoring experience went for them. This is to see if they have any further questions, and in order for the student to be able to apply what they learned on future assignments!

Recently I have focused on assisting students in college and graduate school. But, I am also able to assist students of any educational background.

Background

I have an MA in Archaeology, and I earned an honors BA in History. While in graduate school, I taught an undergraduate class on how to write research papers. As a teaching assistant for undergraduate classes, I constructed and graded exams, and tutored students on course material. I can help you because I know what teachers are looking for! I have also tutored in after-school programs in DC and Indiana, and taught social science classes in a high school in Kenya.
