Experienced in teaching beginner - Advanced! Master's Degree in Music Composition with Piano Concentration.

Methodology

My training in piano started from when I was 5 years old. Since then, I continuously took piano lesson and have had performed on the stage as well. I continued my training in piano until the end of my undergraduate at the University of Hartford under David Westfall, Paul Rutman, Susan Cheng and Grace Smith. Over the summer during my college years, I worked as a private piano instructor in Korea for a part-time job. I also worked as an ear-training and music theory tutor at my college.

I earned my Master's Degree in Music Composition in 2017 under the guidance of Richard Danielpour at Manhattan School of Music.
I also hold Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition with Piano performance concentration from the University of Hartford.

I believe Piano should be taught along with basic music theory and history to fully understand and learn how to play it. I utilize my background as a composer when teaching Piano(music theory, notation, ear-training, etc.)
I give my students a specific goal to motivate them to practice and work on the assignments.
I believe growing understanding and appreciation of music is as important as developing skills.

Background

I began teaching piano to K-12 students since Summer 2010.
I've also taught college level ear-training, and music theory.

Currently, I have 8 students age from 4 - adult.
My students' level ranges from total beginner to intermediate.

Two of my students are preparing for ABRSM exam.
