I teach beginning to intermediate students. I structure my lessons based on the students' style of learning. I always make sure to touch base on the following categories: theory, music history, tone, articulation, rhythm, and pitch. What I focus on is entirely dependent on the student-- I want to make music learning fun and relaxed. Book your lesson now :)
I am currently a music student but I started a chamber ensemble and have practical experience. I am a part-time student and I am in my last year. I am starting two businesses, non-profit and for-profit, that are geared towards teaching music of diverse backgrounds. Additionally, I hold positions that are relevant to my field.
The fee is $40/lesson. Lessons are one hour. If you are interested in a 30-minute lesson, it is $25.
Depending on how far you are from me, I will change the cost of travel. My rule of thumb is $7 per half hour it takes me to arrive. We can figure out a place to meet if you would prefer the lesson to take place neither in my home or your home. Places I recommend are libraries with studios, Performer's music, churches and so on. Please keep in mind some of the places charge for using the space and that may affect the price. I know of a few places where I can teach, you just have to let me know! I am here to help. :)
I hold lessons in the South Suburbs as well. The St. Stephen Church in Midlothian is allowing me to use the space as a studio. There is no travel fee there. Feel free to contact me for more details.
Please ensure I have your cell phone number where I can reach you on the day of your lesson, in case of an emergency.
Please arrive on time. If you are late I will not be able to extend your lesson beyond its original end time and cannot prorate my lesson fee. If you expect to be late, call or text me immediately. If no one answers, leave a message, including a call-back number.
In case you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please provide as much advance notice as possible. Except in cases of extreme emergency, the entire lesson fee is due for lessons canceled with less than 12 hours notice. When canceling a lesson with short notice, please leave messages by phone and email.
I can help you get better but I expect you to practice! :) I look forward to seeing you!
Dear student and parent,
As someone who thoroughly enjoys working in music, business and within the community, I enjoy passing on the skills I have acquired through the years.
To begin, I am interested in the history of classical music and my hopes are to study musicology and conducting in the future. I am finishing my studies in Music this upcoming year while I am working in a variety of positions.
Most of my professional development has been acquired through volunteer and internship positions. As an AmeriCorps for Chicago Hopes for Kids, I have worked in a variety of projects that include but are not limited to: starting a music curriculum that incorporates the STEM field; working with extremely sensitive information that must be kept confidential and creating databases for the organization. Moreover, I have worked in a variety of positions that required administrative work, customer service, data entry, and database maintenance; such as Head Music Librarian, Concert Staff for the Chicago Philharmonic Society, Social Media Intern for the Chicago Arts Orchestra, Music Education/Arts Administration Intern at The People’s Music School, and as the Office/Convention Intern for the National Flute Association. Aside from the work I have done for non-profit organizations, I am starting my own business to encourage the study of classical music. Through my business ventures, I have taught dozens of students that have gone back to their ensembles more confident than ever. All of these positions require excellent organization, leadership, multitasking, time management skills, strong communication skills, and building good rapport.
With the experience I have obtained through my positions and my own business ventures, I am confident in my teaching skills. As a proud and developing musician and businesswoman, I am happy to work alongside students.
Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.
