My teaching method is to let the students tell me how they need to be tutored.. I like to start out by taking an inventory of what the students feel like they need to learn their concerns and the skills that they are most excited about learning. I like to pack a lot into the lesson plan. I feel that if you are artistically inclined that you should definitely working as many mediums as you can. I'm also a firm believer in new artist learning to take criticism. I want them to get used to knowing the truth from people about their projects and not just what your mother would tell you. On the other side of the coin I want to find healthy ways to instill a proper artists arrogance.. any good artist will tell you that ego plays a very big part. You have to put your stuff out there expecting that it will be received by the public. Or else you would never get out there. I don't believe in grades. Not when it comes to art work. I would also like to develop a project that starts at the beginning of our time and is due at the end of our time that involves having a showing of some sort put options to purchase the artist works. What better way to get a thick skin, that's what an artist needs, then to put up a gallery and put a price on a picture and see what people say and think about that.
I am a freelance graphic artist. I have doubled informal art classes but have found that I am better suited for practical experience. Like most things I believe that imagination is a muscle and you have to work it out. one must read everyday and one must be given Direction and ideas as to what to create..
