I have taught various classes where I would have to create lesson plans as a whole class, in groups, or individually. I have had some health issues but am feeling better. I miss working and teaching students. I use teaching methods like TPR, students repeating in chorale, have students work in pairs and create dialogues to present in front of class. I have students do a lot of repetition after I pronounce words. Because I am a paraplegic, I can, only, teach online. My native language was Spanish and I learned more about the written words in high school and college. I, also, can teach or tutor in Reading and ESL. I worked ten years in middle school and taught "At-Risk" student for one year.
Because Spanish is my first language, I speak it well. I have taught ESL and worked with students who were at-risk of failing during those 11 years. I had been assigned other classes, for example, Cultural Exploration where I created the lessons from scratch with great results. I have received "Teacher of the Month" at one school.
I received a Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a 3.3 grade average. I was on the Dean's list for four semesters. When teaching in Garden City, KS, I was a member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters for three years. I, also, sponsored after school clubs at both schools and belonged to the Dodge City, KS Gang Task Force. I received graduate hours at Wichita State University for attending a Middle School Institute Seminar. I was awarded "Teacher of the Month" in Dodge City and received an award for "A Life Worth Living" from Wesley Rehabilitation Services.
