My teaching methodology is not traditional in nature. I use songs, actions, visuals, and drawings to help students master concepts and to recall vocabulary. I believe that we need lots of different types of information presentation and practice in order to acquire new information. I use humor and I have a relaxed style. I prefer to tutor students in Spanish I and II at the high school and/or college level.
I am a Jill of All Trades. My degree, however, is in Spanish Language and Literature from NC State University. I have taught Spanish in three different high schools in NC. During my tenure as a classroom teacher I tutored students before and after school--in small groups and one-one-one. I also have experience as a volunteer tutor at an after school program in my town.
I am available between 6 and 8 AM, 6 and 9 PM Monday - Thursday, EST. I have more availability on the weekends. I am some times available on Tuesdays and Fridays during the day.
Tutee must cancel 24 hours before start of scheduled session to avoid a cancellation penalty of $15. If cancellation occurs less than 24 hours before session start, full payment is expected.

I took a workshop that Elizabeth led. She was knowledgeable, well-prepared, and cared about all of the students. I highly recommend her as teacher!
My daughter transferred schools Freshman year and was behind in her Spanish class after the transfer. Elizabeth created a program for her to work on daily and over the winter break. Within about a months time Elizabeth had our daughter caught up and feeling confident in her Spanish class. Elizabeth is not only knowledgeable but is able to teach folks with different learning styles.
Elizabeth was my teacher in high school for Spanish I through IV. She is deeply invested in her students and a lot of fun. Her high school courses laid the foundation for me to pass a critical Spanish proficiency exam in college. I highly recommend her!
An extremely dedicated professor who is beloved by her students. Her teaching style made learning such a beautiful language fun all while relating to my peers and I with great ease. Maestra Thompson is definitely on my list of top professors!
I had Elizabeth in high school Spanish and she was amazing! Very patient and knew if I wasn’t trying my best. Highly recommend lessons from her!
Elizabeth is both intuitive and engaging. She communicates clearly and creates a supportive environment for learning.
I have known Elizabeth since I was in high school. She is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting to learn Spanish!
Maestra was the one of the best Spanish teacher I ever had, if not the best. 80% of the Spanish I know and speak now (I speak Spanish conversationally and have visited and lived in a few Spanish speaking countries), I learned from her. Her materials, ways of teaching and memorization techniques helped me to pick up the language, memorize things and learn things quickly.
