I taught high school Spanish from levels 1 up to AP for six years and still enjoy teaching students to help them succeed. I structure my lessons based on the individual needs of the student and have materials and study aids to help with vocabulary, verbs, grammar, tenses, writing composition, pronunciation, and reading comprehension. As a teacher, I know that students often need more one-on-one help after class. I will help prepare the student to communicate effectively in the language while making the lesson engaging.
I taught high school Spanish I - AP at Wake Christian Academy for six years. I enjoy watching students apply their knowledge in conversation when they graduate from high school and travel to various Spanish-speaking countries. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and have various resources to help Spanish students of all levels succeed. I tutor high school students and college students enrolled in 100-300 level Spanish courses. I received my BA in Spanish at Wheaton College and my Professional Educator's License from N.C State University.
My AP students preformed well on AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam and were able to pass into 300 level courses in college. For the past three years, I have been an AP Spanish Exam grader for the Interpersonal Speaking and Presentational Speaking sections of the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam. This experience has helped me as I prepared my students for the AP Spanish exam.

I had Mrs. Lauren Chriscoe as a teacher (two years ago) for about a year and a half- and, without exaggeration, I can attest to her excellence as a teacher and her extreme talent as a teacher of Spanish. I first met Lauren because she taught my Spanish 2 class. I entered the classroom after Spanish 1 somewhat able in my Spanish ability and left her classroom after a year of Spanish 2 as a highly conversational confident Spanish speaker. Additionally, she filled in at my school for a quarter as my Spanish 3 speaker had to leave abruptly- she continued the old teacher's lessons with ease and even successfully taught the class on concepts we had learned but needed heavy review of.
One thing I remember most about Lauren is the one-on-one help she provided to me and the rest of the students in my classes. Even though my Spanish 2 classroom had around 25 students, I was certain that I could count on Lauren to explain a concept in an easy-to-digest fashion that made large classroom learning a very personal, one-on-one learning experience. She is kind, considerate, and enthusiastic in the classroom.
Lauren is extremely thorough in all facets of her teaching; whether I need extra help with conjugation of Spanish verbs, or was having difficulty memorizing vocabulary, her clear guidance made learning an easy, even fun, task. One fun thing Lauren would do is implement songs in her lessons- one song, in particular, we learned that helped greatly with Spanish irregular verbs. This is just one, of the many cases, where Lauren made learning engaging, fresh, and fun.
I recommend Lauren because of many reasons, but, most of all, I recommend her because of her versatility as a teacher. Because of her vast knowledge of both the Spanish language and of Hispanic culture, she is able to teach almost any level, from beginner to intermediate to advanced learners. Her slow, but engaging pace is well-suited to any learner, no matter the skill level or interest in Spanish.
I had the pleasure of having Mrs.Chriscoe as my teacher for four years. She made learning fun with songs, fun activities, and even pretty fun projects. She is a super caring teacher and would always do her best to help her students, especially if she noticed they were struggling. I even had the pleasure of going on a mission trip with her and she is just a wonderful person all around. I highly recommend Mrs.Chriscoe as a Superprof as she will make the content fun to learn, and you will always have a good time with her.
Lauren is a wonderful teacher and human being. She taught many years at Wake Christian Academy and she did a fantastic job. Many of her AP students had scores of 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture test. I have seen her teach; her lessons are concise, her assignments are fun and she develops inspiring relationships with her students. She has created many unique activities that are structured, effective, and efficient. I highly recommend Mrs. Chriscoe as your tutor.
