I believe that being a good architect and designer has a lot to do with paying attention to one's natural curiosities. Honing an ability to see the world with eyes that are able to detect and create opportunities where others might not see them is essential.
I tend to move between larger overarching conceptual pillars and detailed concepts to create a foundation from which students can begin to explore their own design interests.
Where a more structured academic approach is necessary I often draw on my previous tutoring experience with the International Baccalaureate Design Technology course which provides a solid framework.
Ultimately I try to share the playful and every day nature of design as it relates to all of our lives. Learning through doing is a key learning tool I enjoy sharing. The nature of design thinking also plays an essential role in structuring my lessons and this is an aspect that will be tailored to suit each students needs.
I have tutored International Baccalaureate Design Technology students in Amman, Jordan.
I have several years of experience as a guest critic for students of architecture in Jordan and the UAE. This is a particularly interesting experience as it really requires one to tap into a more empathetic understanding of each individuals different approach.
