The first thing I do before any lesson is engage with the student to see what current knowledge they have already obtained. From there I will begin teaching components of the German language from the basics and built up to the more complex components. An example for a beginner would be: teach them how to pronounce each letter of the German alphabet, then how to pronounce basic words (with translations provided), and then work up to learning vocabulary and basic sentence structure. My lessons are personally tailored for each student looking to learn the German language.
I have taken German lessons for four years now. I have two semesters of advanced German knowledge at the college level under my belt. While I have not specifically taught German lessons to students, I have taught in professional settings before. For the past year, I have worked with elementary students in the DC area to teach them how to build their reading skills. Many of these students were learning English as a second language and showed significant improvement during the time that I was working with them.
If you have to cancel your session, please let me know as soon as you possibly can! It's preferable if you could do it at least a day in advance, but I know things happen suddenly and I am willing to work with you in those instances.
