I worked alongside Alex as she obtained her PhD and I was always astounded by her dedication and passion for her work. Many times projects would become complex or seem overwhelming however Alex would approach these issues with an admirable tenacity which never seemed to falter. She does not give up which I think is an excellent trait for an educator.

Jay

Alex is an awesome tutor. She is extremely personable and patient and able to distill very complex concepts down to a basic level. She is highly knowledgeable, reliable and truly invested in her students success.

Alex received her PhD from U Chicago, after completing her thesis project in the lab of Eugene Chang, MD. I had to pleasure of working with and advising Alex throughout her graduate work as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab. One of the most defining and impressive characteristics of Alex is her cool and calm demeanor. She functioned exceptionally well in high stress situations and was able to sooth those around her when needed. She was also very well-organized and maintained nicely organized excel files for her data. She was a diligent worker and demonstrated outstanding presenting and writing skills. For instance, Alex took part in writing a review article published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry and her section was beautifully written and required minimal edits. She later demonstrated her work ethic and success in research by publishing a paper in Cell Reports with a fellow postdoc in the lab. These qualities and accomplishments make Alex particularly well-suited for a teaching position in which she can bestow her knowledge, and impressive writing and presenting skills on others. As previously mentioned, Alex has the ability to calm those in stressful situations and is happy to help people solve any problem they may face.

Alexandria's Experience

I have organized/participated in science outreach demonstrations to middle and high school students. I have been a peer mentor to graduate and undergraduate students in the sciences for 4 years. I was a teaching assistant for a graduate class of 82 students and successfully completed a teaching course, which included strategies for active teaching/learning and student assessment. I am new to giving lessons one-on-one but am excited to work with you and help you achieve your academic goals.
