As a #haes and #antidiet coach, I find myself having to explain #intuitiveeating and #bodypositivity ALL THE TIME. So here's a couple answers to some FAQs for those of you who may be unfamiliar with my work:
Anti diet doesn't mean anti #health. As someone who studied nutrition in college and is still fascinated by the science, I'm the last person to try and promote treating your body and mind poorly. The issue is, our culture's obsession with thinness and the abundance of false information out there has perverted "health" into something rooted in perfectionism and shame.
"Eating whatever you want whenever you want" is not the same as "eating everything all the time." Our bodies are actually really smart, and building trust with our hunger and cravings by exploring food freedom is one of the healthiest things we can do!
"Dieting" includes everything that creates rules around food. This includes the lie that there is "good" or "bad" food. Food is just food. Different foods have different properties, and nutrition is exciting because we learn how amazing it can be. But our relationship with food is complex, and is often more impactful on our health and what most people obsess over- our weight.
95% of diets fail. If a medication carried the warning that it MIGHT work in the short term, but actually makes things worse later on, would you take it? And yes, this includes "lifestyle changes."

Background

I empower individuals (especially women) to love themselves unconditionally, thus freeing them to pursue fulfillment and THRIVE. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Health in Wellness and am an ACSM certified personal trainer. I am an accomplished coach of 8 years adept in motivating students through positive encouragement, resolving mental barriers, and consistent structure. As a result, I have high retention rates and build strong student relationships that last years. I believe empathy and balance are crucial tools in the health industry, and that success is more easily attained by small, realistic goals that don’t involve shame or manipulating insecurities. Pursuing a happy, healthy life should be enjoyable and confidence-boosting, and imperfect. I enjoy being a supporter along a clients’ path to progress, especially when I get to motivate them through plateaus, self-doubt, and inspire them to celebrate their successes. I have 8 years of experience coaching adults and understand well the unique needs of this population. Being an instructor for adult learners means being their advocate and providing a nurturing atmosphere where we can build meaningful relationships, empower them to succeed, and motivate them to continue lifelong learning.
