I have played piano my whole life. I love jazz, classical, contemporary, and rock music and many other diverse styles. I am an improviser, composer, and music theory enthusiast, very in touch with the creative side of music.
I’m easygoing and patient. I put thought into each individual student and will design a curriculum around your particular interests and needs. I can teach in traditional ways, or I can teach through improvisation, call-and-response, imitation, transcription and other organic and intuitive learning methods.
I believe that practicing your instrument should be intrinsically rewarding, and can teach you how to learn in a way that makes practice not a chore. I believe in the value of music listening, having role models, and closely studying the music we love. I often play by ear, and believe it is a learnable skill that will help you connect with music more naturally.
I hope you'll contact me and we can learn some music together!
I have played the piano my whole life, and have a B.A. in Music. I have been giving lessons since January 2019 and have tutored over 20 students from ages 4 to 70 in jazz, classical, rock, blues, and gospel styles. I put a lot of thought into each student to make sure I am giving you the best possible things to help you succeed. My students have discovered comfort and fluency on the instrument that has enabled them to play the music they love.

Paul is an excellent piano instructor for individual lessons. He has a wealth of knowledge in music theory as well as in practice. He is very friendly and keeps practice fun by integrating music from the area of study into practice. If you are looking for a comprehensive teacher who will really get down to the how and why of the practice material as well as getting into jamming and improvisation, Paul is the right instructor for you.
Paul is great! He's a super kind, skilled teacher that knows what he's talking about and works hard to make the lesson about your interest and skills. Working with Paul, I feel like not only have I become a better piano player but I've learned a lot about music, practicing, and skills that I will take with me. 100% recommend taking lessons with Paul!
