I usually start with getting to know the student I'm tutoring, as to feel out what techniques would help them the most when trying to learn. I then see if there is any assigned homework in the subject they need help with, so I can see what kind of structure they are given in school, so I can better plan future lessons and also help them succeed in their class!
I am a sophomore in high school who has been tutoring for three years now, and have tutored kids ranging in ages 5-15 and in subjects such as writing, reading, and math. I have seen great results in kids I have tutored, from first graders being able to start reading on their own, middle-schoolers improving their reading comprehension skills, and even high school students raising their geometry grades considerably. II honestly love to teach and can help out with whatever subject necessary!
High School Sophomore
I have always been a straight A student, and even won the graduating class writing award my eighth grade year. I tutored first graders in reading and writing in the seventh and eighth grade, and once I got to high school, tutored middle schoolers in writing and freshman high schoolers in geometry.
