History tutor recently returned from working in Europe excited to help students in the DFW area

Methodology

I enjoy working with primary texts in order to give context for the topics in discussion, and to help cultivate historical thought and reasoning skills. Understanding the context of an event, individual, or movement is crucial. Obviously, dates and names cannot be overlooked, but I work to avoid becoming too antiquarian. The most important thing is to encourage the students to truly think about what they are learning. Having completed my B.A., I would be happy to assist students studying on the undergraduate level as well as younger students in late elementary, middle, and high school.

Background

I have given site lectures and city tours on topics of history and art history in Rome, Florence, and Venice as well as Greece. I worked for over a year assisting study abroad students as they experienced sites in the heart of Western Civilization and European history south of Rome, and have supplemented that experience with my own travels across Europe to enhance my understanding of modern European history and politics.
