I have been a teacher and tutor for nearly ten years. As a lecturer at the University of Chicago I have taught classes on salient themes and issues in European and global history, as well as introduced students to classic social and political texts. Insofar as UChicago has a very sizable foreign student body, and English is often a second language, I have had to develop effective communication skills and pedagogical tools to render my lessons both meaningful and accessible. This has entailed utilizing an array of multimedia resources (video, podcast, interactive and educational websites) to effectively organize and communicate subject material to students. It has also entailed tutoring individual students, outside of class, on the general mechanics of critical reading and writing.
