I have 22 years explaining Latin so that all students "get it". I focus on why it makes sense; not on memorizing the rules. If you know English you know about 50% of Latin grammar before you start.
I use Socratic teaching, which is basically listening to my student and directing them to ask the right questions.
I have taught grades 9-12 and adult education for 22 years. My students have scored very well on national tests, and 4 have gone on to become Latin teachers; and 2 are history professors. Most have found that Latin is the greatest tool for success.
I graduated with a degree in Latin in 1989. I have been the lead Latin teacher for 2 school districts. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to teach English in Italy. So, I was able to spend a lot of time in Rome. I am currently working on 2 books. One on the Roman poet Catullus and the other on Roman Medical Science.
