I spent half of my professional life teaching Italian literature (now I am Lectures of lItalian literature at University of Miami and literary critic for various newspapers), and in another important period of my live I served the institutions of my country by promoting the Italian language and culture in all disciplines (as you can read in my enclosed resume). I was a senior cultural adviser to the Minister of the Foreign Office, but the âred threadâ - that was never interrupted and held my life together, both professional and intimate - is the study of literature (especially contemporary poetry both Italian and international), and my writing activities. In fact, over the years, I have continuously published essays of literary criticism and published collected poems, some of which will be translated into English during a seminar of Professor Joseph Leporace at the University of Washington. The two experiences, laboriously held together throughout the years, I believe they gave me a rather composite and complementary profession.
Teaching and the ability to reach a result, and the teacher has to involve every student personally trying to customize method that will inspire direct interest. I'm teaching at University of Miami an for me it is a great opportunity also for to know american people. Finally, I believe that for teaching language you can use literature, like all art forms, which would be more engaging and effective if it is linked to the knowledge and explanation of the historical and cultural context in which the work was produced .
