I use various painting mediums but mostlt avrylic and water colors. I provide a strong foundation in drawing. Classes would be for 60 to 90 minutes. I teach primary and secondary school age student but also high school and adults.
For most students or classes I start by teaching the elements and principles, along with the materials that we have. As we continue to work I encourage students to work with what they have, as we expand what they know.
I am happy to set goals and priorities, but I am most interested in allowing art to blossom in my students. Art making requires courage and self determination and I like to facilitate that. I have a full range of skills that I can teach and am happy to pass on what I know, but I am also happy to simply provide support. I have a fully equipped spacious studio, but I can also travel.

I teach undergraduate students as well as students still in grade school. I am here to help you learn not memorize. I am a self & University taught in arts & studied many different mediums, but I gravitate towards the more craftier or folksy side of the arts spectrum I would say. I'm a laid back instructor who loves to help beginning artists build confidence in art step by step. We would start out with a basic foundation of drawing basic shapes, shading and skeletal line drawing for the human figure. With painting we would first by learning to mixing colors, then coloring basic shapes with various brush techniques.
In the past when I have been asked to show somebody how to execute a certain technique, I always go ahead and demonstrate visually, and explain my process or way of thinking as I am doing this.

My painting classes are scheduled in a way that I teach creative techniques: Acrylic Pour, How to use Palette Knife, 3D Painting etc each session that lasts two hours. I provide a package with free materials to my students on their first class so they can keep that and continue using it.
