I am Paul J Riley - you can call me PJ. I have been teaching acting for over 35 years. I teach a process I developed called The Character Core. It helps the actor conceive of and develop an organic image of the character he/she is undertaking to produce. I use visualization and improvisation as well as a series of exercises I created to that end.
Let's face it, I've been acting all my life. My name is Ryan Brewer and from the time I was able to understand what acting was, it is the only thing I have ever wanted to do. I did my first play in 6th grade and stuck with it ever since. The freedom and enjoyment I got from acting is something that I not only loved but needed. I was a shy guy growing up and didn't have a lot of friends.
I am a videographer. I have been doing videography for 20+ years. This includes camera operation, directing, producing, sound recording, editing, and event set-up. I have taught at a few schools and try to build my classes around what each student is looking for. I pull from meisner, uta hagan, and stanislavki, I introduce improv, and encourage and work with monologues and cold read techniques.
I feel that when learning to act we must do a lot of hands on activities and help bring ideology to the actors that should help them build a character.
Method and Meisner are combined to bring up saved emotions and discover new ones. Repeat exercises and memory exercises are practiced.
The ability to perform is key in every day life. From the stage, to your work place, to just communicating your lunch order confidently, there's a performer in all of us, and with the ever-changing entertainment industry, there's also a PLACE for all of us. I hope to help someone find that place.
I like to have fun with my class. Let's learn about each and everyone's favorite to least favorite horror film and why. Why does something scare you and why doesn't it scare you. How can we make the audience believe we are for sure afraid of something we find absolutely boring? We put ourselves in the shoes of these people and we play it out how they see it in their minds.

I believe that learning should be very kinetic and hands on. It’s best to learn by experiences. As an actor, I love becoming better by using theatre games and techniques.
I believe in teaching to your particular learning style. While more of my classes are kinesthetic or "hands on", I tend to adapt my methodology based on how my students learn. The activities and lessons I provide allow for all types of learning.
