I am a mathematical physics researcher (with degrees in both math and physics). I have been tutoring for 20 years. I tutor almost all undergraduate math and physics classes and some graduate courses.
I am highly interactive in my classroom and one on one teaching. I encourage questions and seek to adapt lessons to the students. My philosophy is "I teach students, not curriculum." Student success is what I seek.
I have the experience and passion for introducing new educational techniques and strategies that will empower students to think on one’s feet, make decisions on the fly, and react to every-changing situations I was born and raised in Robeson County. I have always helped to enhance and enrich those around me academically in mathematics at all levels.

I am a retired Teacher of English and a Retired High School Principal. I completed my ESL Certification in July of 2015 for the purpose of continuing my teaching career after retirement. My goal is to move to Costa Rica and continue with my online students once I have relocated there. While living in Costa Rica I also plan to study Spanish.
My teaching method is simple; usually the text book approach. My teaching experiences so far have been mostly with college students. I explain the concepts from the textbook and then demonstrate with examples for the students. I then give students similar examples to try based on different levels of difficulty.
Engaging the student by convincing her/ him that it is their right to learn. By incorporating a variety of means such as hands-on activities, listening and responding practices in the target language, videos, online games and review programs, the student is drawn into the process and the progression of learning a new language.
Bachelor's of Science in Physics and Bachelor's of Arts in History as undergraduate. In graduate school, focused on International Studies, the subject matter of my M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. The field allowed me to bring together my broad training in economics, social science, and philosophy.
My teaching philosophy focuses on student-centered learning, which emphasizes independent study and peer assessment. I want to teach you the subject matter as well as techniques to help you learn on your own in the future. I develop effective lessons that engage my students and develop deep understanding of the material.
My teaching methodology is to completely understand the concept first. Read and think about it, imagine it in your mind and see where you can apply in your day to day life or in your future. Whatever you learn, think of applying it in a practical life. Don't mug up textbooks, read and build your own world so that you remember it all your life.
My teaching methodology centers around the teaching of concepts. Every learning idea is made up of several concepts. I design each concept as a mini lesson, which when mastered, combine to help the student master an understanding of the big learning idea. I continually assess students’ learning in order to chart their progress.
