Depends on the students, I tend to work with sheets and graphical exercises to develop vocabulary. Also I push the student to communicate his/her doubts so I can build a better feedback and class for him/her.
My method depends on the level of each student. I like to know the person in front so I can adapt my lessons to his tastes and needs. For beginners I first approach the sounds of French to quickly begin to learn the different times of the language.
I am a retired Teacher of English and a Retired High School Principal. I completed my ESL Certification in July of 2015 for the purpose of continuing my teaching career after retirement. My goal is to move to Costa Rica and continue with my online students once I have relocated there. While living in Costa Rica I also plan to study Spanish.
My teaching method is base on a communicative approach. It is student-centered, meaning students use the instructor as a guide in their assimilation of the target language (Spanish). With that in mind, my classes often ask students to create content-written or spoken- as a way to challenge them in their language learning process.
I utilize direct teaching and facilitated learning in tandem to deliver proficiency-based instruction to my students, both secondary students and adults. My goal is to assist you in understanding that languages can only be learned, not taught. What is practiced outside of the tutoring session is just as important as the material that I will present to my students.
In order to keep the class alive and diverse, while allowing to master all the different facets of the language, I put the accent on using a wide variety of different sources. And because everyone has very different ways of learning, I adapt myself to each student.
Mis clases están basadas en un libro que uso como guía pero a eso le sumo canciones, juegos y conversación. También incluyo material de la vida actual como una noticia o cuestiones de la vida diaria. Acompaño al alumno en todo su proceso de aprendizaje.
The classes are focused on the students needs and can be a combination of lessons with exercises and the use of videos may be included to reinforce the learning process. The goal is to keep the student motivated and engaged with the class, creating a friendly leaning environment to achieve the student's goals.
When teaching composition, it is critical to assess what students feel are their strengths and weaknesses. I try to build on strengths, and then focus on bolstering weaknesses. I take special satisfaction in coaching a student through writing, and especial pleasure in encouraging him or her to interject his or her own style, personality, and original thoughts into any assignment.
For teaching reading comprehension, my primary approach is to ensure students have a steady grasp on what is expected of them from the assignment. I read the pieces alongside them to clarify any problematic areas and to help smooth any rough/confusing portions.
I speak with students to gather their current vocabulary level, and then build from that base point. We will work with both traditional methods (thesaurus) and newer methods (free thinking, word association, creative exercises) to expand students' vocabularies.
I base classes on my student's baseline level of knowledge, focus on their strengths, and build up their weaknesses; this allows students to both be comfortable with their current educational level and bolster areas needing more intense work. I like to begin with one-on-one or very small groups, so that students can become more comfortable with speaking with unfamiliar people.
When teaching listening comprehension, it is key to connect how listening to a speaker relates to reading text: listen for key words, themes, notes, names, dates, as well as any vocabulary or subject that the listener may find difficult/problematic.
I love to have fun while teaching. I am not too formal in my teaching because I think that teaching can be done well in a very relational way. I believe people remember stories and experiences more than facts, so I try to make our sessions very fun while being informative as well.
I operate through a disciplined framing of questions in conversation, such that the student is guided not towards the “answer”—but towards what it is they already know that will help them find the answer. My ideal student is one who is open to a style of teaching that may at first seem slow—conversation based, question based—because I believe that is the ideal way to learn.
¡Hola! My name is Luis and I am a native Spanish speaker. I have been teaching foreign languages for over four years. And I'll be very happy to work together to build confidence in your Spanish development both orally and written.
I have a bachelor's degree in English as a Second Language and Secondary Education. I utilize many visual aids when learning vocabulary, step-by-step grammar instruction based on state curriculum, and story charts to assist with both reading and writing.
My teaching methods are determined by the students, in that I find younger students or those with weaker skills require a more structured classroom. Those students that are are college-aged, recent grads or early professionals tend to receive a more curated approach, one that seeks to administer to their experience, goals and weak points.
I like to teach in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I am very structure, so its easy for my students to understand the grammar. I am very meticulous about pronunciation. I like to use flash cards, games to learn the vocabulary.
Through my TESOL training and years of experience in the classroom, I have seen the importance of designing lessons to fit the needs of specific learners.
i approach each topic ways that the students can understand and ways of the students can understand their own way of understanding. I give the basic ways , methods of how to quickly start speaking the language someone is learning.
I'm a Spanish native speaker from Colombia. I have experience teaching adults. For 12 years, I taught medical and nursing students, medical Spanish and conversational Spanish. I believe that a very essential part of learning a new language, is to learn about the culture in this case from South America.
