I am a full time scientist who loves to teach. I have a PhD and have been studying biology for almost all my life. I am good in English and I base my teaching on simplistic views of the natural world, something beginners can relate to and find interest in. I am experienced to teach Biology M and E to SAT students.
My basic philosophy in teaching is that we're all born scientists--that is, we're all naturally curious. That's what it's all about. Sometimes though, science classes can make you feel like it's just too complicated... or too boring.
I'm teaching since 10 years now. I give lessons to undergraduates & graduate university students. I base my lessons on curriculum, syllabus & published current research articles. I use video, power-point slides, online materials, journal group discussion related to syllabus, quiz & games mode of studying.
I received my BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, UK and my PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. During my education I studied a range of sciences including Math, Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Anatomy, Cell Biology and neurobiology. I currently teach students for AP Biology, Chemistry and Psychology 1-to-1.
Current medical student, near completion of my medical degree at MUSC and on my way to becoming a surgeon. Completed my BS in Biology at Furman University in Greenville, SC while on scholarship. I use problem solving as my preferred method of teaching. This way it becomes an interactive session for student and tutor.
After receiving my help, all my former students received either an "A" in the subject they were struggling with or boosted their grade by at least 2 grade levels. I have also helped students earn admission to the colleges of their choice by assisting with admissions essays.
My teaching method is hands-on. I encourage students to discuss the content so that they can remember it easier. I also enjoy playing quiz games (like Kahoot!) to see how much you've learned. I use Zoom as a teaching platform which allows complete interaction with students.
My methodology is to use simple language, analogies, problem solving and positive feedback to breakdown complex scientific material. I encourage questions and critical thinking to demystify what is misunderstood. In essence, I use what the student already knows to help them understand what they don't.
After high school I enrolled myself into a medical college. Biology was always an important subject foe me as I always had an inclination towards the Medical and Health Sciences field. I enjoy teaching in my off time and also get to know people.
i have been a visual learner with a short attention span, so when i started tutoring i made sure to keep it short, fun to study and very visual. i mostly tutor premed or highschool students but younger students are fun to work with as well.
I'm a Ph.D. graduate from the Molecular Metabolism & Nutrition Biomedical Program at The University of Chicago looking to learn and help others by sharing my knowledge and love for science via active learning strategies. I provide in-person and online tutoring to any age level.
My focus in tutoring is always to help my students build their skills and confidence, step-by-step. I will tailor your lessons to your needs and your unique way of seeing the world. Above all, I approach every lesson with awareness, patience and respect.
My goal is not just to help students with specific subject help, but to teach students how to approach their studies in a way that is more effective. I hope to that with each lesson, my students feel more confident in their abilities to not only tackle current hurdles but take on future ones.
I am currently a graduate student at Northwestern studying Reproductive Science & Medicine. My method is to help students understand course material by taking what they know and expanding that knowledge through study techniques and resources for their style of learning.
I am currently a sophomore at Boise State University studying Human Biology. I have a 3.8 GPA and currently remain on the Dean's list. I am willing to give lessons to anyone in elementary school, middle school, high school, and first year college students. As a tutor, I will be very patient and understanding with my students.
Most of my students are high schoolers. I teach them by breaking down the complex problems into simple basic parts from which they develop an understanding of the problems. I also give relevant problems to them for developing a better understanding so they can approach the problem efficiently and in a simple way.
MBA/MPA/BS in health, business and public administration. I teach various students at various levels. I usually let the student determine their strengths and I build on that to help where he/she may have struggles. I can help students from prek to high school senior. Some college students as well.
I am currently a Third year Medical Student, with experience of tutoring college and medical students. I can give lessons in Biology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Cell Biology to all levels up to College. I am very easy going and understanding, seeking ways to make learning your subjects easier.
I have the ability to explain concepts in a number of different ways depending on the needs of my students. After 8 years of teaching I have come across many different students and taught to a variety of different ability levels (from special education to honors). At my disposal I have visual aids, power points, analogies, worksheets, and mnemonic devices.
When helping someone overcome a road block in learning, I believe in approaching the topic from a different angle until one works. Visual, auditory, and tactile styles can all be used to find one that works. I have used whiteboards for repetition, color coded diagrams, analogies, and more to look at the information from all angles. Everyone learns in a unique way and at a unique pace.
I attended the University of Tampa in Florida where I double majored in biology and marine science and minored in chemistry and environmental science (BS degree 2000). I also completed my Texas state teacher certification coursework and and have 7 years teaching experience. I have a Master's in Divinity as well.
I like mindmaps, flashcards, analogies, I often use diagrams in my own notes and like to write summaries on the topics I’m learning, memory training, bullet points, google slides, working with apps, brainstorming, open-ended questions, discussions, YouTube videos
My teaching philosophy is simple: Education should be learner and learning-centered. My outlook on education stems from personal experience. I took my first tertiary course at Brevard Community College the summer before I entered the University of Central Florida. In terms of instructional vs.
I'm a recent Biology graduate looking to give lessons in all of the middle and high school sciences and undergraduate collegiate biology coursework. My methods mainly consist of guiding the thought train through relevant material and solidifying concepts to help students reach their capstone potential.
Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology BS at University of Hawaii Manoa Cum Laude. Teach with individual learning in mind. Accommodate learning times and subjects. Flexible schedule. Active learning and participation in lessons. Students have fun while learning. Learning for future use or passing a class, tutor experience is positive.
I have a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Drury University. I will be attending the University of Missouri in the spring to pursue an electrical engineering degree. In the meantime, I am interested in teaching math and science to students who may be unfamiliar or struggling with these subjects.
I believe that the best way to learn is to bridge the gap between what you already know, and what you want to know. I know it can be discouraging to struggle and not understand a subject, but as long as you are willing to try, we can build that bridge. There is no one perfect approach for everyone, and I will work with you to find what helps you achieve your goals.
I am a biological scientist who give lessons to high schools and lab technicians. My teaching methodology is lecture based as well as tutorial instruction (Personalized tutorial), whereby an individual student is helped to strengthen what he/she doesn't understand. I also include study assignment method, which I believe help a student to keep studying for more understanding.
I am a college grad with a BA in Cell and Molecular Biology. I patiently adapt my teaching style depending on the student's learning style. I believe in using kinesthetic methods and real life examples and analogies to help with mastery of difficult material.
I am a former high school biology teacher who has taught SOL material. I know how challenging it can be, so I am here to help. I can break down difficult concepts for you in a way that you can grasp, using various methods to teach you, such as hands on activities, lab experiments, videos, or on location learning.
To be sure of the quality of our tutors and their lessons, we collect reviews of former students.
