My goal is to be able to give what I have received from my teachers: love for music. Without them I would never have decided to dedicate my life to music.
I believe in a holistic learning environment that is based on the interests and goals of the individual. Having worked with full classes, small groups, and over 20 indivual students, I view teaching as a collaborative exercise, working with the individuals to create a unique an indidual plan that will create fantastic results.
I was self-taught for many years, so I know how hard it is to make progress and how easily bad habits develop when you don’t have guidance. That’s why my methods are designed to make you into your own best teacher. I won’t just tell you what to do – I’ll train you to observe your own playing and use effective practice methods to overcome the challenges you encounter.
I have studied bass privately throughout middle and high school and now continue to do so as an undergraduate at the Frost School of Music. Throughout high school I was not only playing professionally, but also giving bass lessons to beginning and intermediate level players.
I will go through progressive rep. from George Vance with my student and see how comfortable they are with certain portions. Based on that, we will make a plan together to work on making them stronger and more confident in the weak areas. If the student is more familiar with Suzuki we can learn from those books as well.

My approach to teaching is to allow the student to explore their own voice, while showing them the ways in which to navigate the complexities of harmony and rhythm. The lessons will consist of the following: sight reading both chord symbols and melody lines, identifying when a certain technique is appropriate, creating interesting bass lines over a single tonality, and a study in "the pocket".

I am very patient teacher and I want to help my students to strengthen and develop their musical knowledge in bass guitar no matter age or skill level. We will start with getting an understanding for the instrument through different genres of music and skill building techniques. I'm very happy for suggestions from studies or song that a student or a parent wants me to focus on.
My lessons are mainly based on the student trying not to create a too rigid approach to the instrument but more free according to the needs. I will use both traditional and innovative methods trying to always give new impetus to the student's musical development.
I focus on the learning needs of my students during lessons. I believe music should be internalised before it can be expressed. This way, students will be taught to play from the heart, which makes lessons less clinical and more enjoyable.
