I will base my classes in what is most important for the student to be successful. Whatever they need to move along the most efficient. I will move at a pace that is good for them and their learning method.

I base my lessons on personal growth and FUN! While it does take the basics to learn and grow, I believe music should ultimately be fun. I'll usually focus on beginners, and my experience working with elementary-aged students has made me very confident at introducing students to brand-new material. However, I'm happy to take on students of any age and skill level! Whether you're rehearsing an intricate xylophone solo for an audition, or just learning to hold your sticks, I'll be there to help.
When it comes to music, I strongly believe that the student should love the music that is listening, practicing and performing. This way, they can focus and learn the music by heart and not just memory. Music is another language, another way to express words and thoughts, thus the musician should be able to relate, understand and communicate through music.
I approach each class with a hands on and immersive experience. Each class will teach rudiments and articulate fundamentals in musical theory, music reading, rhythm exercises and rudimentary practices. Each class consists of rhythm reading and note reading. Each class will be challenging, but tailored to your progressing needs.
I provide lessons for students of all ages and all skill levels. I like to approach my first lessons as if the student never seen the instrument. As we progress, I learn the strengths and weaknesses and build from there.

While there are several drumming method books that I recommend, every student is different, so I typically tailor lessons to the needs/wants of each student. Regardless of direction, we'll work on developing and maintaining good hand technique, meter, groove, and above all, musicianship. Some teachers are stern taskmasters... That's not my personality.
My basic methodology is to teach music through performance. There will always be scales and exercises to work on, but making good use of etudes and musical excerpts makes it more fun. There are numerous method books for the various percussion instruments that are laid out very well and keep it interesting.
Hi i'm Terrell Hines a senior at the Berklee College Of Music. I have over 17 years of experience with drum set and percussion. Usually every lesson is about 30 to 45 mins which is more than enough time for one session. the lessons usually start off with basic concepts of the drums to understand the drums so when we start playing you can play with certain tones you like.
When it comes to one on one or even group sessions, I bring a relaxed energy that is patient and inviting. My lessons are broken into segments and practiced with repetition. Confidence and trust will develop through focus and practice.
I start with what the student already knows, and then begin onto what they want to know.
I teach from several method books with strong fundamentals, theory, reading and rudiments tailored to the desire of the student.
I am also a physical scientist and take a very methodical approach to music. I break the process down into simple bits and pieces and then put them together again in a way that is easy to understand.
My teaching method is based on proper technique, control, musicality, reading, performance, soloing and showmanship. My lessons are given from the beginner to advanced level and include all styles of music and preparation for a successful career in music.
I base my lessons off of each individual student. I like to have fun while we learn and make jokes while doing. I think it’s easier to remember things and progress when you’re having fun.
I go over basics then graduate them to more and more complex drum fills, always pushing just past their comfort zone pushing to the next level without discouraging the student.
Can tailor each lesson specifically to your needs. Everyone learns drums differently because some people are auditory learns while others are visual learners. Making sure I use whatever best suits you is my goal.

Music is a beautiful combination of the two hemispheres of the brain (I know this isn't real science but take it for metaphor's sake). There is math and perfection of rhythms and harmonies within music, but these patterns mean very little without the creativity of the mind inspiring it to move in certain ways.
My goal as a teacher is to share the skills necessary to allow you to teach yourself for a lifetime.
