My teaching method is one that is unique to each student. Everyone learns at their own pace and can grasp new materials in different ways.
As a tutor, I seek to figure out where a misunderstanding grows from and work from there. I graduated Suma Cum Laude from UNC Charlotte by studying hard and developing an appreciation for the material. Through my 12 months of being in the "real world" working a corporate job, I realized my passion is teaching others and helping them arrive at milestones, reach goals, etc.
I can give lessons to all ages. I am most comfortable teaching levels 1-3. I focus on communication and grammar structure. I also incorporate videos to better grasp the language and fluency. I also stress not only the language itself but its history.
My teaching philosophy is 'whatever works'. SLT Methodology has wide range from translation, grammar drills, conversational practices, writing composition, to watching movies and song clips and even cartoon. I am flexible to accommodate each student preference and inclination and needs.
Depend off why you wants to learn french. S'it only academic improvement, your are planning a trip.
I prioritize patience. I also believe that with languages, developing oral skills should be the primary target. Although learning how to write and use grammar correctly is important, ultimately in is more practicable to be able to speak it.
As a world language instructor, I believe my students should be exposed to and engage with the target language and cultures as much as possible, enabling them to communicate in the language in authentic, contextualized ways.
My teaching methodology is that I include some fun in the way I teach french, especially with the younger kids. I also include some visual elements when i teach my students about the french culture, practice pronunciation, reading, and vocabulary.
I believe that students learn best by practicing and hearing a language. I speak as much French as possible, using mimes or pictures to help students understand. I also encourage students to speak French even if they are not confident in their accuracy. A safe and comfortable environment in which students are able to experiment with language is key.
I ask my students how they think they learn best, then move on from there. Language requires speaking, reading, and writing practice so these are the areas I focus on. I believe frequent practice is necessary in order to increase language proficiency and comprehension.
I approach the language through intuition first, so the first part is often a listening. Then we go into the theory.
I believe in formulating coursework based on my students' interests and needs, with the goal of pushing to express themselves honestly and accurately in writing and in speaking. While I will provide some lesson-based work, I prefer to focus on conversation or honing written pieces.
